“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who brought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction, And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.”- 2 Peter 2: 1-3

We learn from the letters of Peter that he was also given the ability to understand about the future events of the world. Like John, Paul, and James, Peter is able to write about the reality at the end of the ages in a similar manner. We learn that there will be times of difficulty as Paul stated that correlate to what John’s Revelation states. We also know that Jude, the LORD’s brother, was able to right the letter of Jude which speaks about the reality of the path of righteousness and the destruction in the path of the wicked.

We learn that Peter is given revelation into the events of the future. This future for Peter is the time that we are currently living is as believers. We know that there are is a lot of deception, lies, and falsehoods that are being told by multiple sources who are not being ethical, moral, or truthful. We learn that Peter talks of this happening even among those that teach the Gospel and the Scriptures. There are those that will blend doctrines of the world with the Scriptures but will falsely deceive those that do not know about the importance of having the Spirit of Truth for discerning the truths from the lies. For those that are believers, we are able to distinguish the truth from the lies.

Peter tells us specifically that there will be destructive heresies that will be used to subvert the truth. These destructive heresies are contrary to the truth. They are lies. They are based on what is not truth. They are not to be heard, read, or paid attention to because they go against the Scriptures and the word of GOD. Their intent is to harm individuals and ensnare through lies. The methods used include:

1) Lies

2) Sensuality, adultery, sexual immorality

3) Greed, covetousness

We learn that there are individuals that have tried to add or remove from the Scriptures. We learn that there have been individuals that have stated that sexual immorality is not a sin or is normal according to the world, when in fact it is sin and according to GOD Almighty it should not be practiced or there will be judgment by GOD Almighty. We learn that there are individuals that preach about the need to be greedy and have selfish ambition and covet what other people have, when these beliefs only become a snare against those that believe and preach them.

We are reminded by Peter, that these false beliefs only lead to destruction. We learn that in the end of the ages, these doctrines will be used by the world to try to ensnare non believers. Believers must be awake like King Jesus Christ states to be able to discern through the Spirit of Truth the word of GOD from the heresies of the world.

We learn that the reason to avoid these beliefs is because they lead to sin. These beliefs lead to accepting lies and living based on lies. This is how people are destroyed through false beliefs. They think that sin is allowed when GOD Almighty will judge wickedness. We learn that Peter states that GOD Almighty is reserving judgment for those that practice these lies and believe in these lies instead of believing in GOD Almighty’s word.
