“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of GOD, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” – Hebrews 1: 1-3

In the letter to the Hebrews, we learn not only about the importance of Jesus Christ in our belief and faith. We also learn about the importance of faith within our ability to be believers in the promises that Jesus Christ made to those who place their belief in His name and everything that is good and righteous. We learn that faith gives us the ability to learn about GOD and learn about what His creation is meant to serve His worship and purpose.

We are given examples of what it means to have faith through the examples of historical Hebrew figures that were able and continue to inspire believers about what it means to have faith. The examples include Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Rahab, David, Samson, among the prophets. We learn that Abel was able to give to GOD the best of his work and labor and for that he is deemed as having faith. He did not choose to keep the best for himself but gave it to GOD knowing that GOD was, is, and forever will be the Creator of all creation. For this reason it would be foolish to think that he could keep the best for himself and gave it instead to GOD from whom all creation was created. We learn that a simple gesture of faith is able to show the belief that existed in Abel. Sadly, this led to jealousy and envy, but Abel lives eternally.

The second example given is Enoch who was taken to heaven after living for greater than 300 years. We learn that Enoch was an example of faith because he lived in a manner that pleased GOD for having faith. We learn from this letter that those who have faith are able to please GOD. Enoch was counted as righteous before GOD when he lived throughout his years praying and following the path of GOD. We learn that Enoch was taken from earth into heaven. Similar to Elijah and those faithful believers in Revelation and the Signs of the End of the Age given by Jesus Christ in Mark and Luke, we are able to see that some people will not go through death or tribulation. Returning back to Enoch, we learn that there are individuals that have so great a faith that GOD not only protects but loves and saves them. Jesus Christ is seen in this that although He died for our sins, Jesus Christ was resurrected by GOD and taken to heaven.

The third example includes Noah who by faith was able build the ark that saved them from destruction. We learn that humanity had turned sinful and had decided to walk away from GOD. We learn that Noah was considered righteous and was told by GOD the need to build an ark due to the impending disaster. While Noah was building and continued believing in GOD, his faith in GOD was seen. Noah was saved by GOD and the faith that he had placed on GOD. Similar to the faith placed in Jesus Christ, we are given the opportunity to be saved from the days like Noah and the days of Lot by our faith in our Savior.

While we may say we have faith while disbelieving like Thomas or choose to believe without proof (although proof exists everywhere you see 1)existence of Israel, 2) cause of division by the mention of the name above all names Jesus Christ, 3) apostles and disciples turning away from professions like physicians or persecutors of the Church or even kings and faith leaders acknowledging GOD, 4) creation’s order and physics created, 5) promises of Old Testament occuring in New Testament, 6) Revelation explaining last year’s of history, 7) increase of knowledge, 8) 2 Timothy 3 , 9) preaching of the word of GOD throughout the world, 10) inflation, earthquakes are just a few of a number of reasons, we can know about the truth in the word of GOD. If you have not placed your faith on Jesus Christ, it would be an important consideration to make since this world is not eternal and there are no other names that brings about salvation. I pray that you may find the author of life and salvation prior to the event of Jacob’s Trouble.
