“Then the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, which delay not for a man nor wait for the children of man. And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of the sheep, which, when it goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is none to deliver.” – Micah 5:7

The LORD always provides for a remnant to exist among the lands. While the world may seem to be going one way, the LORD always provides for the elect to keep strong in the faith and maintain their commitment to the will of the LORD. When the LORD uses figurative language it shows the poetic nature of life that while everyday may seem common and uninteresting for some, it can be filled with miracles to those who see them.

The remnant act without waiting for the approval of man or child because the LORD is the one who gives approval. The LORD’s approval is greater than the approval of the world. Therefore, because the remnant stays loyal to the LORD, the LORD stays loyal to the remnant. These images describe the dual nature of GOD’s chosen individuals. While they may act like sheep when helping, healing, and loving others, there is the lion nature that allows them to act with ruthlessness, strength, and might that comes from the LORD. Like Jesus, the original lion and the lamb, he appeared as the suffering servant, the lamb. In the second coming, he will appear as the King of kings and Lord of lords, the lion of Judah.

Likewise, the remnant has this attribute to them as well. While we may be kind and compassionate, there is the other side that allows us to act seeking no approval from this world, only seeking the approval of the Creator and Redeemer.
